On Sunday 7th June we held our Coronation community street party in the cul-de-sac at the Gardens end of the road.
We were lucky to have the only sunny day of the weekend for the event and many neighbours turned up to enjoy the day, along with our local councillors Diarmaid, Claire and Jason, and our MP, Emily Thornberry who dropped in to wish us well.
An added surprise was the arrival of Channel 10 News from Australia who took some footage and held a couple of interviews as part of their reporting on community celebrations for the Coronation weekend. It seemed a long way to come, until we found out that their European Correspondent lives on Cardozo Road!
Some wonderfui food was brought and shared, and the children had great fun with face painting, an amazing treasure hunt with bountiful prizes, and of course a lot of running and playing in the street and adjoining Gardens.
We also collected a good haul of non-perishable food items for our local foodbank (we donate it to The Pilion Trust at the Ringcross Community Centre on Lough Road).
