Penn Road 2025 Summer Party Recap

Thank you to everyone who came along to this year’s Penn Road Summer Party, what a brilliant afternoon it was! Sunshine, music, laughter, and hundreds of neighbours from all around Holloway came together to make it one of our best celebrations yet.

We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Islington Jason Jackson, along with fellow local councillors including Claire Zammit, who joined residents and friends in the Penn Road Gardens for an afternoon full of fun and community spirit.

The Islington Fire Brigade proved a huge hit with an interactive demonstration that had kids and adults equally fascinated (and a few future firefighters inspired!). Around the Gardens, there were games and craft stalls: from a potter’s wheel and friendship bracelet table to a plant stall run by our wonderful local gardeners.

Children enjoyed face painting, a treasure hunt, and a lucky dip, while local charity All Change ran a fantastic arts and crafts table that stayed busy all afternoon.

One of the standout activities was our local knowledge game, which challenged visitors to match photographs of familiar places to points on a map, a fun way to celebrate our corner of Holloway - and congratulations to councillor Claire Zammit for winning!

And of course, no Penn Road party would be complete without good food and drink, from homemade bakes to cool refreshments shared under the trees.

Our raffle was another great success, thanks to the generous support of local businesses including Gail’s, Better, indiebeer, Kossoffs, Holloway Model Bakery, Lucky Voice, Nicholas James Hair, and Poppet Plants. Congratulations to all the lucky winners, and thank you to everyone who donated prizes or bought tickets.

Events like this only happen thanks to the help of our brilliant neighbours and volunteers. From setting up stalls to baking cakes and tidying up afterwards; we’re so grateful to everyone who played a part. The Gardens looked beautiful, and the atmosphere was full of warmth and laughter.

Here’s to another wonderful summer party next year, and we hope to see you all again at our Winter Gathering later this year!
