Welcome

Penn Road is a quiet, tree-lined street in Holloway, north London. Built between 1865 and 1870, it runs between Caledonian Road and Hillmarton Road, with Penn Road Gardens, a small public open space, at one end and St Luke's Church at the other.

The Penn Road Residents’ Association, formed in 1997, has helped to make our street an unusually friendly place to live, with a strong sense of community that’s rare to find in the city. We focus on local issues that benefit residents and the street as a whole, meeting regularly throughout the year.

Our biggest event is the annual summer party, held in the award-winning Penn Road Gardens. It’s a highlight for neighbours and friends from both Penn Road and the surrounding area - a chance to celebrate, connect, and enjoy this lovely green space together.

This event, which has been running for over 20 years, provides a community focus for the area and is well attended by many people from both Penn Road and the surrounding roads.  We also have the more recent tradition of the Winter Gathering party at the end of each year.

We have a maintenance contract for Penn Road Gardens with Islington Council and work with them to improve this small green oasis.

We've also worked closely with the residents of the flats at Number 1 Penn Road on the Edible Islington project. They're now enjoying great success growing their own fruit and vegetables.

Over the years Penn Road Gardens has won many awards in the Islington in Bloom competition

Monthly Gardening Sundays

On the last Sunday of every month we host a gardening morning, working in collaboration with neighbours and friends to constantly improve this award-winning space.

We meet in the Gardens from 10:00 to midday, when experts and novices muck in and do what they can.

Consider yourself invited!
